Meetup Station – July Edition Recap (Costa Rica Tech Week Special)

Last week we celebrated another edition of Meetup Station, our monthly event that brings together the local tech community to learn, share ideas, and connect. July’s session was extra special because we were part of Costa Rica Tech Week, the biggest technology gathering in the country.
This time, the spotlight was on Artificial Intelligence, a topic that’s transforming how we work and build products. We had two incredible speakers who not only explained concepts but also showed how AI can be applied in practice.
Mariano Alvarez, Google Developer Expert and Senior Full-Stack Engineer at Telescoped, kicked off the night with a talk on how to build AI Agents. He started by covering the fundamentals of what an AI Agent really is and how it differs from traditional chatbots. From there, he introduced the audience to the tools available today to create powerful agents, and wrapped it all up with a live production demo built using the Agent Development Kit, showing step by step how these systems can go from theory to real-world application.
Then, Victor Da Luz, Full-Stack Engineer at Clio, gave the audience a completely different perspective on AI. Through a game-like experience, he showed how to build an engineering team using Cursor. By leveraging custom modes and prompts, Victor demonstrated how AI can help structure and implement tasks in a creative and collaborative way. His session sparked a lot of interaction from the audience, who got to see AI applied in a fun but very practical context.
The event wrapped up with networking, where attendees shared thoughts on the talks, exchanged ideas on how they could apply AI in their own projects, and connected with peers in the community. Full video available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLPdKaEOsTA
